Aber Village

We have recorded some of the history of the Village. There are some odd but interesting facts about the village. The drinking troff down by the bus stop was at one time along side the old A55 opposite to Madryn farm and was marked on some very early copies of the O.S maps. The Village was substantially rebuilt in the 1850s by the Penrhyn Estates and so much of the original lower village was destroyed and a number of oddities were created such as why are the three houses called Tyn Y Mwd built the way they are, why was the Mill built so large, why was the road walled so far up the valley. There was a fair in the village which had it origins back in the 11th century and was still being held in October 1906. This would have been up by the mill in what was later to be a village garden reference to it can be seen in the sale of the village in 1925. Many of the buildings in the Village have their own stories to tell here are some.
