Post cards became popular at the turn of the 2000 century. There were in the 1890 post cards with out a picture, then came cards with a picture on one side and an address on the other, this meant that you had to write your message on the same side as your chosen picture, later the address side was split in two and the message was put on the same side as the address leaving the picture to take up the hole of other side
